She was the Democratic Party's nominee for President of the United States in the 2016 election, becoming the first woman to be nominated for president by a major party. Clinton previously served as the First Lady of Arkansas from 1979 to 1981 and from 1983 to 1992 while her husband, Bill Clinton, served as the governor of Arkansas.
