Curtis James Jackson III, known professionally as 50 Cent, is an American rapper, actor, and entrepreneur. Born in Queens, New York, in 1975, he began his music career in the mid-1990s. 
50 Cent rose to prominence with his mixtape Guess Who's Back? in 1999, which garnered attention for its raw and streetwise lyrics. He signed with Columbia Records but was dropped from the label after being shot nine times in 2000.
