A Biographical Summary of Bill Clinton

William Jefferson Clinton, often referred to as Bill Clinton, served as the 42nd President of the United States from 1993 to 2001. Born in Hope, Arkansas, on August 19, 1946, Clinton rose through the ranks of the Democratic Party, serving as governor of Arkansas for twelve years before his presidential victory.

Clinton's presidency was marked by a period of economic prosperity and relative peace. He oversaw the passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), a landmark trade deal between the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Clinton also signed into law the Family and Medical Leave Act, which provided eligible employees with unpaid, job-protected leave for family and medical reasons.

Despite his successes, Clinton's presidency was also marred by controversy. He faced impeachment charges in 1998 stemming from a sexual harassment scandal involving Monica Lewinsky, a White House intern. While he was acquitted by the Senate, the scandal tarnished his reputation and led to a period of intense political polarization.
